Sustainability Science

Palm tree and ocean

Over the past decade, our group has contributed to the elaboration of the new interdisciplinary field of sustainability science.  Our work on knowledge systems for sustainable development, on vulnerability of human-environment systems, and on other aspects of the management of human-environment systems has contributed to the emergence of this field.  We have also helped launch several publication venues (e.g., Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences Sustainability Science section; Annual Review of Environment and Resources; Frontiers in Ecology and Environment) to encourage the growth of this field.
